Now that we’re in the New Year, we invite you to renew your family’s commitment to maintaining healthy team and gums. At Superior Smiles in North Fremantle, we are passionate about helping Perth children of all ages enjoy optimal oral health and a beautiful smile. That’s why we encourage you to bring your kids into the practice for a regular checkup every six months.
Children get their first permanent molars, commonly referred to as back teeth, at the age of 6. These teeth have proven to decay easily hence why it is important to have a comprehensive dental exam. This exam includes an assessment of any decay and whether there is a need for sealants as prevention against potential decay, orthodontic assessment and other diagnostics.
Bulk-Billed Children’s Dentistry
Under the Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS), your child may be eligible to receive up to $1000 worth of bulk-billed general and restorative dental treatments. Kids between the ages of 2-17 are entitled to this government-funded allowance, provided they meet certain requirements. For example, if you receive Family Tax Benefit A your child is eligible for the CDBS. One of our staff members can determine eligibility over the phone. The only thing you need to provide is your Medicare number.
What dental services does the CDBS cover?
An array of children’s dental treatments are covered by the CDBS:
- Dental cleanings
- Dental examinations
- Dental fillings
- Tooth extractions
- Fissure sealants
- Root canal treatments
- Dental x-rays
These child dental treatments up to $1000 must be completed over a two-year period. Please note that any funds that aren’t used can’t be rolled over. Children’s orthodontic or cosmetic dental treatments aren’t covered by the CDBS. If we determine that they’re essential, however, we can custom-create a treatment plan to meet your child’s oral health needs and fit your budget. We also offer interest-free payment plans to make treatment affordable.
