Dr Rani Gopal

Principal Dentist
Dr Rani Gopal is the Principal Dentist at Superior Smiles and has a strong interest in creating dental care that is comfortable, considered and tailored to the individual patient.
Her interest in dentistry was shaped by her own childhood experiences. After suffering dental trauma that resulted in a broken tooth, she later underwent orthodontic treatment and came away with a positive impression of dental care. Those experiences influenced her decision to pursue dentistry as a career.
Rani completed her Bachelor of Dental Surgery in 2005. After moving to Australia, she prepared for the Australian Dental Council examinations while gaining experience in dental practices across Sydney, Canberra and Victoria before eventually settling in Perth. She also completed postgraduate study in Public Health and Business Management at the University of Western Sydney in 2008.
Her approach to dentistry is centred on careful diagnosis, comprehensive treatment planning and helping patients feel at ease throughout their care. She has particular interests in preventive and minimally invasive dentistry, bite analysis, smile design and clear aligner treatment.

Special Skills & Interests
Rani has particular interests in minimally invasive dentistry, orthodontics, smile design and helping patients who experience dental anxiety.
She has undertaken further education in anterior alignment and cosmetic treatment using systems including the Inman Aligner and Snap-On Smile, as well as advanced endodontic techniques using the ProTaper system.
Rani enjoys taking a conservative approach to treatment wherever appropriate, combining preventive dentistry with careful treatment planning, bite analysis and aesthetic considerations. She is particularly interested in treatments that can improve both the function and appearance of a patient’s smile while preserving natural tooth structure wherever possible.
She also has a strong interest in caring for nervous or anxious patients and aims to make treatment as comfortable and manageable as possible. Depending on the patient and procedure, anxiety-management options may include oral anxiolysis, nitrous oxide or treatment with intravenous sedation provided in conjunction with an appropriately qualified sedation practitioner.
Outside the Practice
Outside the clinic, Rani is an avid reader and enjoys spending time outdoors, particularly nature walks.
She also has a long-standing interest in chess and developed a competitive streak in the game during her school years. Yoga is another important interest and helps her maintain the calm and focused approach she brings to both her personal life and dentistry.

Cherie Rayner

Dental Hygienist
Cherie Rayner is an experienced dental hygienist who began her career in dentistry in 2001. She began her career as a dental nurse in 2001 before going on to study dental hygiene at Curtin University of Technology, graduating as a dental hygienist in 2003.
Throughout her career, Cherie has worked across a range of areas including general dentistry, orthodontics, paediatric dentistry and periodontics. She spent eight years working within a specialist periodontal practice, developing extensive experience in the care and ongoing management of patients with periodontal and gum health needs.
Cherie is known for being thorough while maintaining a gentle approach to treatment. She enjoys building relationships with her patients and helping them understand how they can maintain their oral health between visits. Ongoing professional education remains an important part of her work, allowing her to continue developing her knowledge and skills as dental care evolves.

Cherie has particular interests in periodontics and orthodontics and enjoys helping patients maintain healthy teeth and gums throughout different stages of their dental care.
Her experience in specialist periodontal practice has given her a strong interest in periodontal therapy and the ongoing management of gum health. Cherie particularly enjoys helping patients understand their own oral health and providing practical guidance to help them care for their teeth and gums between appointments.
Her experience also extends to orthodontic and paediatric dentistry. Across all areas of her work, Cherie combines thorough clinical care with a gentle approach, helping patients feel comfortable while supporting good long-term oral health.
Outside the Practice
Outside the practice, Cherie loves spending time outdoors with her children. She enjoys exploring Perth’s local beaches, bushwalking and making the most of time outside with her family.
Cherie also enjoys cooking and experimenting with new recipes. Although at five years old she had her sights set on becoming a ballerina, her career ultimately took a very different direction, and she found her passion in helping people achieve and maintain good oral health.

Dr Farshad Monshizadeh

Dentist (Dental Implantology & Oral Surgery)
Dr Farshad Monshizadeh graduated from the University of Western Australia with a Bachelor of Dental Science in 2002. Early in his career, he worked with metropolitan health services and provided dental treatment to patients in the Kimberley with limited access to dental care.
With a substantial interest in oral surgery and dental implantology, Farshad pursued additional training in implant dentistry before earning a Master of Oral Implantology from Goethe University Frankfurt. Since 2009, he has practised reconstructive dental implantology and oral surgery, consistently staying current with research, techniques, and developments in the field.
Farshad is known for his attention to detail, caring nature and gentle approach to dentistry. His combination of extensive clinical experience and a calm, considered manner helps patients feel they are in capable and professional hands throughout their treatment.

Farshad has a particular interest in dental implantology, reconstructive dentistry and oral surgery. He has been actively involved in reconstructive dental implantology and oral surgery since 2009, completing extensive postgraduate education and training in implant dentistry.
His areas of interest include dental implant placement and the replacement of single or multiple missing teeth, immediate implant placement, full-arch implant reconstruction, bone and soft tissue augmentation, wisdom teeth removal and complex dental extractions.
Farshad is committed to keeping up to date with current research and developments in implant dentistry and oral surgery, combining extensive experience with careful planning and close attention to detail.
Outside the Practice
Outside of dentistry, Farshad is an enthusiastic and skilled fisherman who enjoys spending time in nature with his family. When he isn’t working with patients or teaching implant dentistry, he’s often found heading somewhere remote in search of his next great catch.

Dr Vivian Mascarenhas

Dental Sedationist & Dentist
Dr Vivian Mascarenhas combines more than two decades of dental experience with postgraduate training in dental sedation and a particular understanding of patients who feel nervous or anxious about dental treatment.
His path into dentistry began after initially starting a degree in computers and mathematics. Vivian soon realised he wanted a career that let him work with both his hands and his mind. After spending time gaining experience in a dental practice, he found the combination he was looking for and went on to graduate in dentistry from the University of Western Australia in 2003.
Throughout his career, Vivian has worked across hospital, public and private dental settings, gaining extensive experience treating patients under general anaesthesia and intravenous sedation. His interest in sedation ultimately led him to undertake formal postgraduate training at the University of Sydney, completing his qualification in dental sedation in 2016.
Today, Vivian brings together his experience as both a dentist and dental sedationist to help make treatment more manageable for patients who may otherwise find dental procedures difficult or overwhelming. His approach emphasises patient safety, careful monitoring, and helping people feel supported throughout treatment.

Vivian has a particular interest in dental sedation and in helping patients who may feel anxious, fearful or overwhelmed by dental treatment. His postgraduate training and extensive clinical experience allow him to provide a full spectrum of dental sedation techniques tailored to the needs of individual patients.
His role extends beyond the administration of sedation itself, with careful attention to patient comfort, full medical monitoring and pain management before, during and after dental procedures. This allows Vivian to work alongside the treating dentist during procedures such as dental implant surgery, wisdom teeth removal and other more complex treatments, while he focuses specifically on the patient’s sedation, monitoring and wellbeing.
