Clear braces available here in Freemantle
Clear braces or ceramic braces work the same way as metal braces only the brackets are made of a clear or translucent tooth-coloured porcelain which blends in with the natural colour of your teeth.
As with traditional metal braces, clear braces are attached to each tooth with a bracket holding an arch wire, which is a u-shaped wire that helps guide your teeth movement. Many adults and teenagers choose clear braces however, as the brackets, arch wire and also the elastic bands holding the wire in place can be clear, making them almost invisible from a distance.
As they cannot be removed, the patient must wear their clear braces twenty-four hours a day, which can help reduce the treatment time required.
The other advantage of using clear braces is the cost, which can be less than using clear aligners like Invisalign.
A little more care does need to be taken with clear braces, however, as the porcelain can stain more easily than its metal counterpart.
There are several advantages in opting for traditional metal braces:
- Traditional metal or ceramic braces are better for complex issues such as large gaps, severe overcrowding or bite issues
- Treatment time can be reduced as they are fixed in place and worn 24/7
- A more affordable option - clear braces cost less than clear aligner treatments
